‘The Batman’ gets new director to replace Ben Affleck
- 'The Batman' would be Reeves' first comic book adaption

Matt Reeves has been contracted to direct The Batman by Walt Disney, ending speculation on who would fill the role.
Reeves, who directed upcoming sequel of the Planet of the Apes franchise, War for the Planet of the Apes, replaces Ben Affleck.
Affleck was initially going to direct and star as the caped crusader, but stepped aside from directorial duties to focus on playing the Batman role.
According to Reeves, ‘I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.’
With Reeves joining the crew, production of the film can continue on schedule, with reports stating that the Studio and Affleck have seen and are pleased with the script turned in for the film.
The Batman would be Reeves’ first comic book adaption, though no release date has been set for it.
It would come after the Dark Knight trilogy which was portrayed to critical acclaim by Christian Bale between 2005 and 2012.
